Athens: Taking responsibility for attacks against fascists.

In a prolonged period of ongoing crises, impoverishment and general class devaluation, the re-emergence of fascists in the public sphere is a reality that we have to face once again. After a brief ‘withdrawal’ from the public sphere as a result of hard-fought battles by the multiform anti-fascist movement and the subsequent State rollback (see the trial of golden down neo-nazis), various far-right and fascist groups are attempting to regroup, to declare their presence on city walls and in the neighbourhoods and take to the streets. A movement that is culminating as we approach the elections. In fact, the recent event of the stabbing of an antifascist comrade after an anti-fascist march in Kallithea, shows an upsurge in their activity that must be relentlessly crushed in its infancy.

The new “Greeks” party of Kasidiaris, number 2 in the hierarchy of the old HA, having rallied a potential that ranges from far-right cadres, adventurers and careerists, to the “traditional” Nazis – remnants of the weakened mother-organization, is attempting to imprint the far right-nationalist swamp electorally and claim its entry into the Parliament, with all that this implies. On the other hand, the government of New Democracy, for electoral reasons, to cut off the leakage to the right and to “cleanse” itself of its own far-right policies and cadres, is choosing to pass a law to block the entry of Kasidiaris’ party in the upcoming elections.

Athens, Taking responsibility for the paint attack on the offices of New Democracy political party  in Koukaki area,  by Anarchists

In October 2022, within the framework of the zero tolerance doctrine, the new prison code is passed, which among other things makes the granting of leave and the conditional release of prisoners even more difficult and essentially restores the C-type prisons with the “maximum security prisons”. In response to this treaty, on 28 October, mobilisations by prisoners in prisons throughout the country began. The State, in an attempt to intimidate those who are struggling, reacts vindictively, targeting some of them in their cells with threats and bullshit.

Hence, at dawn on Monday 19/12 the kidnapping of the political prisoner for participation in the organization Anarchist Action, Thanos Chatzianggelou, and his transfer from his cell in Korydallos to the prison of Nigrita Serres. On 22/12, the transfer of comrade K. Dimalexis to the prison of Trikala was carried out In the same way.

When we carried the spirit of solidarity to Berlin-Neukölln in the first hours of January 3, Thanos Chatzianggelou was in the 15th day of his hunger and thirst strike.

Our target was a truck from the car rental company Hertz, which we burned completely because Hertz – not only in Greece, but especially there – provides vehicles to the enemy (police, military, private security forces) at reduced prices. In the USA, in December, Hertz had to pay almost 170 million dollars in compensation to former customers who were falsely accused by Hertz of stealing rental cars, some of whom ended up in jail.
